Newbie, Obj-C, pins/pivots/wheels?

Post by emptythetill »

Hello.

So I'm new to this physics engine, and new to Objective-C. I'm working on a very simple game for the iPhone, I have gone through some demo tutorials and they work fine. I now want to go further. :)

I have searched for how to do wheels but none of the code seems to work for me, I guess this is because the snippets I found were not Obj-C but looked like Java or Actionscript. Can anyone tell me how to crete a very basic vehicle, literally as simple as a board with two wheels on it? I guess I need pins instead of pivots? I link to further reading would do the job.

My next question is regarding the coordinate system. I want to create a curve for the wheeled board to roll in, a simple bowl for now will do. How do you all work out where to place points for the curve/ground? Is it simple guessing and tweaking?

Wanted to say thanks for Chipmunk, it's going to be fun learning and playing with it. Wanted to say thanks in advance for the answers or suggestions I get.

Take care.

E.
