simple download question

I am new to downloading things off the net and this is a simple question. I tried downloading the demo and source code off the main chipmunk home page by pea zip, so I extract the first file 'chipmunklatest-2' and try to open it somewhere on my computer that step might be fine but then peazip shows 'chipmunk-4.1.0' and I try the same approach but it opens up in the folder but none of the subfolders (e.g. demo1) work, computer asks which program would you like to run/ open this up with. Anyway I'm a little lost, where am I going wrong? Thanks for any help.

The ChipmunkLatest.tgz file is only a collection of source code. A library intended for other programmers. There is no executable demo in the file you downloaded. You would have to use a compiler to compile it into a program first.

Given the nature of your question, I don't think Chipmunk as a programming library is what you thought it was and would probably not be very interesting to you unless you are a programmer.
