Documentation error?

I'm looking at the documentation for ChipmunkSpace. It says damping is the fraction of velocity a body has after 1 second, and that a value of 1.0 means no damping.
Then it says a damping of 0.9 means the body would have 80% previous velocity each second.
Is this a typo or am I not understanding something?
